My name is Michael Nagy, and I am the brawn behind Three Rabbits Productions. I’m a musician and teacher based in central New Jersey, and I am committed to the education of music. I’ve also been part of the New Jersey music scene for the past 25 years. My current musical endeavors include the rock band Little Dipper and the newly-formed Young Jerks.
I started out recording demos for myself and friends in my mother’s basement (who, in retrospect, was pretty cool about the noise). For various reasons, I always walked the line between doing things myself and paying somebody else to do it. About 5 years ago, friend and Suburban Soul Studio owner Charlie Park moved to California. The day he moved was the day I finally committed to producing my own projects. So Charlie…this is all your fault. Since then I’ve slowly and steadily added to my arsenal of software, instruments, and microphones. The noise isn’t my mother’s problem anymore, but it does tend to annoy a couple of finicky bunnies.
As the climate for music has drastically changed over the last few decades, many of us artists have been forced to adapt. The development of the project studio is a direct result of that. Production that used to cost thousands of dollars , can now be done at home for a tiny fraction of that cost; in addition, those costs can go towards countless projects rather than just your current one. Although every artist would love to spare no expense on their vision, the reality is that cost is always a factor. For many of us, limited budgets and the declining number of professional studios made producing your own art as much a necessity as a choice.
My goal with Three Rabbits Productions is to have a place where I can produce my own art whenever and however I see fit whether it’s a simple video clip or a full length album. A place to work at it for hours or to decide that today just isn’t the day. A place to not have to worry about the clock or coming in under budget. A place that feels like home because it is home.
Three Rabbits Productions is a small studio focusing on audio and video projects. I initially created it to complete my own original works, but recently I’ve made it available to friends and occasionally the public on a case by case basis.
